Lucy Liu was born in the United States. She is an American actress, a singer and voice-over artist. Lucy Liu is a beautiful and intelligent actress. A lot of Asian actors who are aspiring to become big starlets in Hollywood look up to Lucy Liu. After several appearances in popular TV series and movies, she gained fame after being cast as a character in Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. The new fame she gained was translated into roles for the big screen in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels as well as other movies. The actress then gave an amazing performance as Japanese criminal lord O'RenIshii as part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. In the meanwhile, she was playing the lead role in a few box office failures such as Rise: Blood Hunter. In animated movies such as Kung Fu Panda, Tinker Bell and others she voiced characters with prominent voices. The small screen role of Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia did not yield positive results. Southland - a critically acclaimed crime-drama - established her as a leading actress. Liu picks her roles wisely to ensure she is not a victim of such a competitive field. Though she's extremely proud of her culture, she does not let the fact that she is from China limit her creative abilities.
