Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin is a native of Canada and actress from New Zealand. Born in Winnipeg however, she was raised in Wellington the city where she was born, she made her first acting appearance in The Piano. In this romantic drama, she was eleven years of age, Paquin won her second Oscar for Best Actress. When she responded to a request to auditions open at the age of nine, and with little prior experience acting, she won Flora McGrath's part. Flora is the daughter of the Scottish pianist who was mute. The couple moved to New Zealand during the middle of the 19th century in order to arrange a marriage. As a teenager, she moved to America. Paquin was cast as the child title in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. She also played an important role on the screen in Fly Away Home, a movie from the year. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a smaller character. She portrayed teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
